Kaffie

10yr 14h Black & White Spotted Saddle Horse Gelding. Really cute, and gaits well. Getting very fat with no work, and just play. Great ground manners, but will require a lot of time before he will be enjoyable ride under saddle. Nervous and wants to bolt once you get on his back. No buck or rear or anything aggressive, just very nervous. It appears that he has been "cowboyed" in the past, so he just has a lot of fear of a rider. Has not been ridden in many years.

The bolting happens immediately when you get on his back. He just tenses up and has the immediate need to go forward. The last time I personally rode him was about 5 years ago. It was possible to stop him back them, and he would stand well with a rider, but his training was never finished. Once you began forward motion, he felt the need to constantly go faster.

He needs a lot of work before he will be calm and accept a rider properly. The owner just wants a very laid-back, older horse to pleasure ride on, and does not want to invest the training into him. If he was sent to a trainer, I would expect that it would take 2-3 months to allow him the opportunity to really calm down and accept a rider well. He would make an awesome little gaited trail horse after that, though. He's very cute and flashy, and does have excellent ground manners.

My facility would be happy to assist you in training at a discounted rate, if you are interested in purchasing Kaffie.

Best Offer to GOOD, VERY EXPERIENCED HOME.
