10yr 14h Black & White Spotted Saddle Horse Gelding
Really cute, and gaits well. Getting very fat with no work, and just play. Great ground manners, but will require a lot of time before he will be enjoyable ride under saddle. Nervous and wants to bolt once you get on his back. No buck or rear or anything aggressive, just very nervous. It appears that he has been "cowboyed" in the past, so he just has a lot of fear of a rider. Has not been ridden in many years. $750 OBO |

6yr, 14-14.1h Black Mare
Beauty was rescued by the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County, Inc. and is in great foster care currently. We do not know too much about her history, but she now appreciates people, will approach you, can be haltered, leads, and can be touched all over. She will pick up her feet for the farrier, but could use some more practice and experience. Beauty is prone to "sweet itch", but the only remaining sign of her previous skin condition is that her ears droop slightly. She has a quiet, sweet disposition, and could use a lot more love and handling to overcome per previous lack of handling. She is in training currently and building more and more confidence every session. She has a cute head and a stout grame! She is very attentive and willing. She's a very cute mare that deserves a bright future!
The HS/SPCA of Sumter County is asking for a $400 adoption fee, which acts as a donation to help reimburse the fees that they have had to cover during the rehabilitation of many horses! An adoption contract will need to be filled out through the HS/SPCA for this horse to pre-qualify the potential new owner. See www.hsspca.org for additional information on the adoption process.

Palomino Gelding Yearling (mature to large pony/small horse size)
Brave is a wonderful little guy that we have been working for H.O.R.S.E., Inc., a 501(c) horse rescue based out of Mims, FL. He is a palomino TWH/Quarter gelding that was rescued by Beauty's Haven Rescue, whom is still caring for his mother. H.O.R.S.E., Inc. took Brave. He had a rough start in life, but is now very healthy with a beautiful coat, big eyes on the cutest head, and a sweet personality. He is approximately one year old. He has had 2 weeks of professional ground training and a lot of handling since his arrival at H.O.R.S.E., Inc. He picks up his feet, loads in a trailer, ties, is easy to catch, and leads well. He is still young and learning, but has a great foundation! Brave is ready to find a new, loving, permanent home! A pre-adoption application will be required to be considered.
H.O.R.S.E., Inc. is asking for a $300 adoption fee, which acts as a donation to help reimburse the fees that they have had to cover during the rehabilitation and training of Brave. An adoption contract will need to be filled out for this horse to pre-qualify the potential new owner. See www.horseincorp.org for additional information on the adoption process.

Proud is continuing to fill out and will be a thick, but very handsome boy when he's finished maturing. He has had training on the ground, and will pick up his feet for the farrier, allow touch all over, move his hindquarters/forehand, lunge/circle, back by wiggling rope or pressure (preparation for stopping/backing under saddle), lead, drop his head, flex his neck, "follow a feel" (preparation for turning cue under saddle), is learning voice commands, etc. He is ready to be started under saddle mentally and is very eager and willing to learn. Very personable and sweet, not aggressive at all. Will be a quiet, confident riding partner for his new home!

8-10yr 14.2h Strawberry Roan Appaloosa Mare
Whisper is a shy, but curious girl who appears to have had little handling prior to coming into foster care. She shows some signs of being pushed too hard mentally, but mostly just lacks training. She approaches people willingly, loves treats, allows touch except for on her legs, halters and leads. She recently foaled a beautiful, sweet, laid-back, personable filly named Freedom (who you can see on the HS/SCPA Web Site). During this time, she was handled quite a bit, but she still does not like her feet being picked up or touched. She doesn't understand personal space quite yet, but is not aggressive, just fearful. She is laid-back by nature, but still unsure about people. She is a very pretty girl with a cute head and face. Will make a nice trail horse with more time and education. She has a thick stocky build, so she should accept a rider up to about 190 lbs or so.

18-20yr 14.2h Chestnut Quarter Horse Mare
Momma is a sweet, shy mare. She is very healthy, but does have a sway back, so if she can be ridden, she will need a very light rider. She has not been evaluated under saddle, but was probably under saddle at some point in her life. She is very, very laid back and calm. it appears that she is rusty and needs a refresher course. She does show some signs of being pushed too hard mentally, so she is a little shy, particularly about picking up her back feet. However, I feel that this could be overcome with some time and patience. She likes people and cookies, allows touch all over, halters easily, leads, and picks up her front feet well. A 75-100 lb rider would be suggested due to her sway back and age.

3yr 13.3h (mature 14h) Grey Arab/Appaloosa Gelding
Cotton has had a lot of handling at his new foster home, but doesn't appear to have had much prior. He shows no signs of being mishandled, and really wants to learn and please. He is Mr. Curiosity and likes to sniff everything. He has a puppy dog personality and is very, very personable. He accepts touch everywhere, picks up his feet, halters, and leads. He is naturally very curious, playful and confident. In the right hands, he would make a cute Hunter pony, lower level dressage, trail or endurance horse. He would also do well on obstacle courses because he is so confident and curious. Suggested maximum weight for the rider is 120-130 lbs, as he is a small horse with a narrow frame.

9-10yr 14.2h Strawberry Roan Appaloosa Gelding
Sonny is very calm and laid-back. He appears to have had a lot of handling, and possibly some training under saddle prior. He loves people, and will follow you around like puppy. He picks up his feet, leads, ties, wears a saddle comfortably, and accepts weight. He has not been evaluated past this point yet, but has expressed no concern about the saddle or weight WHATSOEVER. He is very respectful and confident, and would be best suited for a gentle, mild person looking fora trail horse or a horse that could do obstacles courses or mounted shooting because he is just so laid back and naturally calm. Great stocky build to accept a little heavier rider. He has had severe sunburn damage to his face because of all his pink sking, so it is absolutely mandatory that he be kept in a heavily shaded turnout.

10-12yr 14h Strawberry Roan Appaloosa Mare
Appy was rescued by the HS/SPCA of Sumter County, FL and is in great foster care currently. We do not know too much about her history, but she is still a little leary of humans, but will approach you, can be haltered, leads, and can be touched all over. She is very sensitive to having her feet touched currently, but with the proper time by a gentle, experienced hand, this can be overcome. She picks up her front feeet wonderfully, and picks up her back feet with some patience. She is learning to lunge/circle, back off of a wiggle or pressure on halter, she walks over tarps, wears a saddlepad, and drops her head for haltering. She is in training currently and building more and more confidence every session. She has a good, stout build, and would make a great POA pony! She is very attentive, and has POSSIBLY been ridden at some point in her past. Very cute mare that deserves a bright future!

Sweet appaloosa mare who loves people, scratches, and cookies. She is actually a rescue horse, confiscated by the HS/SPCA of Sumter County out of a horrible situation. As you can see, she's come a LONG way. She is in great foster care right now, and is UTD on everything and very healthy. Bella has been lightly started under saddle in February/March of 2010. She also ties, picks up all of her feet, leads, drops her head easily for haltering, moves her hindquarters and forehand on cue, stands for mounting/dismounting, is learning voice commands, and is very responsive and sensitive in just a rope hackamore. Bella is also the first horse to COME running when she sees a halter. If you are in the pasture with her, she will follow you all around like a puppy, and appreciates a some rubbing while she is there. She is a sweet mare with a curious, non-spooky nature, and she deserves a bright future!
